Early in 2005, Vicki Yohe Ministries began the implementation of a vision, the magnitude of which is greater than anything we have ever pursued. God has given us a mandate to develop an orphanage in Jinja, Uganda. We first visited this East African country in the late 1990s and immediately fell in love with its people. The need there is great, with nearly 1.5 million homeless and parentless children.
Our vision is not for a dusty dwelling to simply house homeless children, but rather we will build a haven of refuge for these young people. It will be a place where they can be educated, cared for, and empowered; thus the name: New Destiny for Children.
Our ultimate vision is to purchase a large parcel of land upon which we will build a compound that includes housing, educational, recreational, medical and vocational facilities able to accommodate upwards of 1000 children.
The first phase has begun! The "Juliana Mercy House" is now open! Check back often for updates and news about this project.
